OVERVIEW
Hello Kitty, introduced in Japan in 1975 by a company named Sanrio, and designer Yuko Shimizu has become an international trademark and brand with licensing arrangements generating near $5 billion annual revenue. One of the licensors, The Upper Deck Company, the worldwide leader in sports and entertainment trading cards, on November 4, 2010, announced that its first Hello Kitty collectible miniatures & stickers trading card game (TCG) - Hello Kitty World Adventures Collectipak on store shelves.
CHALLENGE
Upper Deck signed a multi-year agreement with Sanrio Inc. last November to produce the TCG based on the iconic brand. The company enlisted Jacob Tyler to create a new Web site to showcase the trading card games and additional products coming to market in 2011.
SOLUTION
Jacob Tyler developed a site incorporating Hello Kitty brand standards while creating simple functionality geared to the Hello Kitty target market, primarily 6 - 9 year old girls. The site uses advanced JQuery scripting for mobile applications and fun "easter eggs" to create interaction for children to learn about the new product line.
