When Yahoo! Finance Online Named San Diego's Les Kollegian "Entrepreneur of the Week," the Impact Was Profound

SAN DIEGO, CA - July 17, 2007--San Diego entrepreneur Les Kollegian had one of those "It's a Wonderful Life" moments recently, when he learned that something he said in a Wall Street Journal interview inspired North Carolina businessman Taylor Caldwell to listen to his inner voice, which was nudging him toward business ownership. The Wall Street Journal article went viral online and ended up on the Yahoo! Finance Web site, where Kollegian was named "Entrepreneur of the Week." It was there that the story caught Caldwell's attention. "The story showed guts, resolve and a determination to make it work," recalled Caldwell. Caldwell was impressed enough to eventually hire Kollegian's San Diego-based Jacob Tyler Creative Group to handle his new company's branding initiative, corporate identity and Web site.

"I'm humbled that something I said made such a positive impact on the life of another person. That's what it's all about. I really believe in the power of capitalism and entrepreneurism," stated Kollegian. "When Taylor hired my company, everything came full circle," he added.

Caldwell enlisted Kollegian's branding expertise for his new company, Business Development Boot Camp (www.businessdevelopmentbootcamp.com), which is designed to help other entrepreneurs vet their concepts and pragmatically follow their dreams of business ownership. "I needed a designer with a very high level of discernment, and Les provided that many, many times over," Caldwell explained. "I told Les from the outset that I would only be able to work with him if he provided me with brutally honest feedback. He didn't disappoint me there either," Caldwell laughed.

Kollegian, a graduate of the University of Maryland, also holds a Master in Fine Arts from the University of Baltimore. The "Big Book of Logos 5" a well respected graphics industry idea book, recently accepted all 30 of Kollegian's logos, which is a near impossibility, considering 25,000 logos are submitted annually by the nation's top 500 design firms.
