Even though Batman’s lost his first step… he has been inspiring Halloween costumes for decades…

by Jonathan Marshall

So growing up I idolized this superhero, everyone did – he was SOOO COOL… From his awesome Bat suit and Bat mobile to his underground cave and crazy nemesis Joker – what’s not to love? He had me dressing up as Batman every Halloween until I was in 11th grade… uhh.. (cough cough…) I mean uhhh… 4th grade…? Ya that’s right… 4th grade.

Anyway, he must be the exact same person who was acting as Batman when I was 10-years-old because he lost his quickness and vanishing ability over the last 15 years or so… Regardless, Batman is still and always will be a badass, and happy Halloween weekend from all of us at Jacob Tyler!

Communication Breakdown… It’s always the Same

These must be the creatives – just look at those funky outfits!” Sometimes it’s a battle for the big idea, and sometimes the creatives don’t always see eye to eye with the client… or the budget for that matter.

With changes like, “We need to make the logo bigger, but feel smaller,” and “Let’s run it through 19 focus groups,” – it can feel like the conversation is in four different languages. Cheers to all the creative agencies for battling for the big idea!

p.s. This is why JTCG doesn’t use account executives…

Chairpants!!! For those who prefer to sit… it’s so easy…

So standing sucks…. it’s just unnecessary? After a while it basically becomes an annoying pain… in the thighs, calves and mainly butt area. Chair pants uses an incredibly technical, space-age/golf bag technology that is activated by an initial “sitting motion” made by you! Now you can sit when you are at the grocery store, lame parties, and even when you want to take a break while dancing without having to go back to your table! The possibilities are endless!

This viral video is one of the many social elements in DDB Vancouver’s new advertising campaign for the BC Dairy Foundation. “The Weak Shop” offers consumers a suite of products to help compensate for limp limbs due to lack of milk consumption.

“Shhhh… It’s like a little nap…. for my legs.”

The Doghouse.

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009

by Jonathan Marshall

Dual-bag vacuum cleaners, gym memberships and mustache waxers… all thoughtless gifts given by boyfriends and husbands to their girlfriends and wives during the holidays that ultimately put them in the Doghouse.

With holiday season right around the corner, JCPenney assures that a diamond is a classic, affordable gift that will not only keep men out of the dreaded Doghouse, but will also melt her heart and have her screaming and jumping for joy. JCPenney’s diamonds are essentially “get out of the doghouse free cards.

So the “Doghouse concept” works because it is a very familiar and unfortunately realistic situation to both men and women everywhere. Most of the time, men are notoriously bad and ultimately uninterested when it comes to shopping for gifts that send the right message. Advertising Agency Saatchi & Saatchi New York uses this comical gift-giving generality (alliteration aside) as the foundation of their entire advertising campaign. They center their holiday ads around this universal occurence, and offer some of their clients’ products as the answer to the entire problem. Because when it comes to the ladies – diamonds are usually a pretty full-proof plan. So there you go fellas, now you know… Stay out of the doghouse this year!!
